ASCCP's CME Credit Policy

The American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. The ASCCP designates each course (lecture) of this series for 1 credit hour (Category 1) of the Physician's Recognition Award of the AMA. This CME activity was planned and produced in accordance with the ACCME's Essential Areas and Elements .

Requests for CME certificates may be submitted via our Request CME Certificate section. Temporary certificates may be printed immediately from the "Submission Complete" page. Formal certificates will then be sent to your mailing address via the United States Postal Service and should arrive within 3-4 weeks.

Instructions for Obtaining Medical Education Credit

To complete this program successfully and receive credit (i.e., certificate of completion), participants must follow these steps:

  • Read the educational objectives in the course summary
  • Complete the particular lecture (1 CME hour, Category 1);
  • Read, complete and submit post-test answers to the ASCCP national office (form located at the end of any given lecture); and,
  • Read, complete and submit the activity evaluation form to the ASCCP national office (form located at the end of any given lecture).

To earn your CME credits, you must complete and submit the CME post-test and evaluation form. From the Main Menu, select the Obtaining CME Credit button to access the form that may be completed electronically.

Excluding the Primary Cervical Screening lecture, continuing medical education credits for the ASCCP Online CME Program will be available from ASCCP through December 31, 2006. CME credits for Primary Cervical Screening with HPV Testing and Cytology Combined are available through July 2008. ASCCP is now reviewing the following lectures for a reaffirmation of credit and their anticipated posting dates are provided in parentheses: Natural History and Epidemiology of HPV (February 2007), Immune Response to HPV (February 2007), The ASCCP Guidelines for Management of ASC (pending 2007 publication of 2006 Consensus Guidelines), The ASCCP Guidelines for Management of AGC (pending 2007 publication of 2006 Consensus Guidelines), and Colposcopy of High Grade Lesions (March 2007). CME credit for these courses will resume upon their new postings.
